Hotel QT in Sydney

Melding two of Sydney’s grandest and most prominent historical buildings (the State Theatre and Gowings on Market & George Streets) into one hotel has involved a painstaking restoration process culminating in the creation of a bold and unique hotel experience.

Public Spaces

To ensure impact on arrival, QT Sydney’s art consultants, designers and architects worked to bring the history and rich fabric of both buildings together through an energetic collection of original artwork and graphics. The bold design of the hotel is set off by the historical features forming a space that serves not just as a lobby, but as a playground after dark. A striking LED wall of digital art is a feature of the public areas within the hotel, adding a dramatic and intriguing display to these already enticing surroundings.

Eclectic and quirky artefacts have been brought together from all around the world adding an unusual mix of interesting elements to the QT experience. Bespoke furniture, graphics and a strong use of colour are some of the unmissable highlights of the QT design with a bold use of black and white, Yves Klien blue, magenta and citron
throughout.

Rooms & Suites

A deep palette of reds, oranges, yellows and whites feature through the 12 unique room styles in the 200 guest-room hotel. Retaining the original timber floors, the rooms in the Gowings Building are bright and airy with eccentric touches and embellishments. The adjacent State Theatre rooms boast exclusively designed carpets and rugs, producing a lush and embracing feel brought together with bowler hat lamps and light fittings. The design team have played to the obvious eccentricities of the historical buildings, helping to create an edgier environment. Every element of the rooms have been designed specifically for the space; from the design of wardrobes, bedheads and carpets, to the minibars, glass cabinets and materials, each room is individually tailored for an unforgettable QT experience.

The dark stone bathrooms are accented by signature baths and large separate showers with pin spot lighting ensuring a moody and sultry vibe. Focusing on luxury, the
many unique variations all celebrate the unusual. The rooms and bathrooms are finished with eclectic and quirky collectables and pops of colour, creating an individualised home away from home from which to explore Sydney’s many offerings.

Gowings Bar & Grill

This bustling dining room features a market-type alley for the freshest of Australian ingredients, including a ‘working’ tuna which on main display mixed in with hand-picked artisan producers and the edgiest, allencompassing art in the restaurant world. Rotisserie ovens and grills feature strongly on the menu which is a go to for the best power breakfast in town, working lunches and dinners. Ceiling and wall graphics bring the room alive whilst the exclusive music director, later on in the evening, will bring the house down.

Parlour Lane Roasters

The entry level of QT Sydney houses Parlour Lane Roasters, a European style café with experienced baristas serving some of Sydney’s best and most uncomplicated coffee options. For a quick and easy social breakfast or lunch Parlour Lane Roasters is the place to go. The Roasters turns into a bustling aperitivo bar from the afternoon and into the evening. The heritage tiled floors of the entry have been restored to their former glory and the original ornate retail display cabinets have been reinstated to house quirky design statements.

Gilt Lounge

Positioned above Gowings Bar & Grill, Gilt Lounge offers an array of the hippest, hand-crafted cocktails designed by some of Sydney’s best bartenders. Taking the party on from dinner at Gowings Bar & Grill, or from the aperitivo wine bar at Parlour Lane Roasters, Gilt Lounge comes to life after dark. With a late night close of 2am and a seating capacity of 60 people, Gilt Lounge offers an impressive list of liquors and speciality cocktails.

The design cleverly uses colour and quirky features to mirror the heritage of QT Sydney’s location above 2 of Sydney’s most historical buildings.
